The first news story that popped up was one of their friends, a guy who got Topher into running. He was being arrested. Then the reporter said he got killed.
Topher gulped Dow. His last bite. He stood up wen to find his running shoes and a shirt.
He walked past the living room again, "I'll be back later."
He opened the door and slammed it shut so hard it echoed and the wood splintered.

Valkyrie looked sadly behind she understood how he felt. All te serials where friends just some where closer than others. She closed he eyes and sighed slowing the markings to become tendrils and let them investigate the door as sheturned her attintion back towards the news. The other six serials including Topher and herself where safe and they didn't know their whereabouts. Which was good. If one was killed the others always scattered again into groups on one or two and waited it out. The weather turned on next and she focused on the door once more, her tendrils usig a knife to tighten a screw and another tendril smoothing some of the splintered wood.

Topher just ran. He went no where in peticuler. He just ran. His best friend was killed. Sure he was close with Valkyrie but his best friend who was a guy, something all guys need is a best bud was killed. He hated his life because of this. He wished he could have stopped it but he knew that would have never happened.

Valkyrie waited patiently knowing he had done so when they had killed all te otters like them including one of her good friends. He had been kind and patient, very unlike his usual self, and she would honour that and dothe same for him. As friends should she guessed he would be out side running for a wile longer and relaxed flipping to a different channel as the shadows cleaned and she kept an ear our for any ink or tattoos. She could be paranoid sometimes about, getting caught, but she never showed it. All she showed was a calm face and relaxed self.

Landy ran and tumbled to his knees when he reached a small lake. He punched the water out of frustration. He began to cry, but it was more manly. He had just lost his best friend.

Valkyrie waited the silence eerily creeping around her even with the T.V on. She kept an ear open for a pen touching skin or anything. She didn't want to leave the house wanting to be back when Topher was back but she wanted to find out what was causing the silence.

Topher leaned against a tree and just thought. He then got an idea. He knew his friends code by memory he would get it tattooed underneath his own. The sun began set over the water and he headed home.

Valkyrie looked over her shoulder the tendrils recoiling back to her body. She looked behind her expecting to see Topher but she saw a small envelope with nothing printed on the front side but as she took it and turned it over she else's the bright red coloured ink explaining how the government was tightening security. They got these type of things every once in a wile buy usually they where black envelopes with red cards and White ink, this wa odd.

Landy came back this time he just walked through a wall. He did that when he was mad. He looked at Valkyrie, "I want a tattoo." He told her. Then he noticed the envelope, but his mind was still on the tattoo.

Valkyrie raised her eyebrow. " you do know I would be able to hear your thoughts ect. Just be aware of that. " she told him as she went into her room and came out with the tattooing pen and a tray of filled ink cartrages. " what and where, but no where gross please,"

"Underneath my bar code, on my shoulder. I'm putting his," he told her. He knew he would be screaming in his mind, his pain tolerance wasn't that good.

Valkyrie nodded and waited for him to put himself in the state of mind he needed, " alright take your shirt off and tell me the numbers." she said waiting to make sure she had the numbers right.

Topher took his shirt off, on his shoulder blade, were the numbers 9936764555. "His was 6394014936," he said as he laid down on his stomach. He trusted her completely to give him a tattoo.

Valkyrie nodded and turned on the needle and turning up the T.V it may help distract him and if not it would help drain out the sound of his mind. " All right, ganna start now," She told him just before she started and touched the needle to his back and starting to put the first number, 6.

The second the needle touched his back he was in pain. But he tried really hard not to show it or think it. He was doing this for a reason.

Valkyrie tried to hurry and be neat at the same time, as soon as the ink touched his skin she heared the suppressed yells of his mind. She finished nine of the numbers and started the last one quickly finishing. " there now don't move and I'll get you the wrap you have to wear for a week and it will heal. I not it will take a month or so."

Landy nodded and just laid still as he waited for her. He felt proud getting the tattoo, he knew the reason behind it was honorable.

Valkyrie wrapped the tattoo in the skin coloured wrap tightly but not to tight, the skin was still tender. She threw his shirt to him, " your done," she told him before she went to put all her tattoo ink and needles.

He put his shirt back on, and sat up, "Thanks," he said. The tone in his voice showed he really meant it. "What's in the envelope?"

Valkyrie came back into the room, " Nothing, its written on the outside this time, its sort of explaining stuff and telling us all about the tightened government security and more movement from them." She told him looking over his shoulder as best she could.

He looked at the letter, "More movement, what does that mean?"
He examined it, not wanting to open it, he hated opening this envelopes.

Valkyrie shrugged, " it's just written on the envelope and no idea, probably the government just putting more people in more populated or the neighborhoods they founds others of us there. But I really only have guesses." she told him turning the envelope around in his hands so he could read the hastily written note.

Topher looked over the note, "Aren't these normally red?" he asked, setting it down. It kind of worried him.
He looked at her, he really was grateful that she gave him the tattoo, even if she didn't understand the whole reasoning behind it.

Valkyrie nodded slowly, " yeah and Topher I do know how much it means to you, you have a tattoo I can hear most of your thoughts especially you telling me thank you and why, " she told him smiling, " for the red thing, I think it was written in a hurry and just thrown under the door."

He had forgot about that, but he decided it was better than nothing. "Why would they write it in a hurry, unless something was happening?" he thought outloud. He sat on the couch.

Valkyrie looked down, " or they where running and telling others to run. But we'll see. Turn on the news maybe there's a story on it," she told him nodding to the remote control and going into the kitchen to fetch an English muffin she had made earlier.
