Connor: I roll my eyes. "I can talk to them if you want, um...Luke," i say with a smirk. I start walking away. "I have to go talk to my parents for a while about something. I'll be back in a little bit," I add, calling over my shoulder to her.

Dayna:

The rusty red dirt of the practice track flew up in clouds as I raced around the obstacles. Finally, after my black car looked orange I turned into the garage, and slipped out, pulling off my black helmet complete with it's two silver stripes. The water hose whispered as I turned it on and rinsed the dirt away.

Lucy: "Say a word and you are dead." I say in the gruff voice. I smiled under the helmat. He was a sweet guy, not the type that should race. I always fear that the races will break him. I shook my head and got back to work. I started on checking the oil. I realized that I had forgotten the oil. Dammit! I just had to borrow some from the next garage. "I'm off boys, Forgot the oil." I say gruff, I could hear the snikering in the background. I hated to be made fun of, profiling was bad enough.

Connor: When i get inside, my mom is sitting on the couch talking to my younger sister, Kim. "Hey mom, where's dad?" i ask her cheerfully, just for Kim. My mom smiles back and says, "his office. as usual."
Kim waves to me and then goes back to playing with her little race cars. i hesitate a moment. i can't believe that my younger sister would have to face the races one day. I sigh, walking towards my dad's office. or, his 'observatory', as he calls it.
"Dad..?" I knock lightly on his door as i open it. He's hunched over his desk, looking stressed out. "Hey," i call out softly. his head snaps up instantly. his eyes wide, then he calms down, taking his seat in his office chair.
"Connor," he nods to me. i sit down across from him.
"Has there been...any news?" I ask warily. He stares at me before looking down at his desk.
"No. I'm sorry son, nothing yet," he whispers. I nod, chewing on my lower lip. Avery's been missing for three weeks now. I haven't heard from her since...since our fight. I let out a deep breath and stand up.
"Thanks dad, i'll...i'll be back later," i toss over my shoulder, a little more harshly than i'd expected.

Lucy: I take off the sweltering helmat and let my twin blond braids fall to my back. "Much better." I sigh as I make the long hike to the garage, an half an hour hike up. I unzip my jumper and tie the arms around my waist, the cool air refreshing me. My plain white tank underneath was covered in dirt, I didn't expect to unzip the jumper until I came home to my apartment. My hot pink bra showed slightly through the thin matierial, no one was here to see me though. I sighed at the view of the racetrack, the beautiful cars driving through carefully. I wondered which ones would be smashed to pieces first.

Connor: I get into the car next to mine -- it was my father's, but it still worked smoothly. I rev the engine and i'm gone. I race up the hill, wondering if Zane (i just made him up, we don't ever have to use him at all if you don't want Razz

) was home. Then i see Lucy again. I roll down my window. "Hey Luce, you wanna go for a ride?" i ask her with a grin.

When my car shone in the bright light of the garage, I stepped back to admire it. As an old-fashioned racer, I rarely let anyone work on the Night Hawk- just a few trusted grease-monkeys. I unzipped the leathery fire-proof suit and stepped out, wearing only a black tank-top and dark denim shorts. When my gear was put away, I slipped outside and walked away thoughtfully.

Lucy: I trek up the hill leaving him there in his car. I stomp up in my steel toe builder boots, comfortable but very ugly. I wasn't a tomboy, I was a girly-girl to the most part. I liked heels and dresses but still like my cars and sports. I was often profiled and judged, 'Oh, shes a girl. She can't be as good as a guy.' or 'She works with cars, she must be a tomboy.' I hated profilers. I finnaly reached the other garage and knocked on the sliding door. "Hey, anyone here?" I call out loudly.

Connor : I drive off without Lucy when she declines. I keep just over the speedlimit until I hit the empty high way. There was no one in sight so I could get away with going 90 mph. Or so I thought. Soon enough - too soon - the sound of a police car following me comes up behind me. I groan, pulling over with a screech. My hands tighten on the steering wheel. The police officer knocks on my window and I take my sweet time rolling it down. My eyes widen when I realize who it is. It's Lee. He's one of my best friends.
"Um hey, Lee."
Lee smirks at me. "What's up Con? Speeding I see," he scratches his chin thoughtfully. "You know, you really should save the racing for the track."
I roll my eyes. "You didn't tell me that you were going into the force."
He looks down. "Just since Avery disappeared..."
Lee is Avery's brother. I frown a little.
"Hey, I get it." I assure him calmly. He just nods, straightens up and smiles. You can tell it's not sincere.
"I'll see you around Connor. And next time I catch you out here speeding your ass off, I will write you up." he smirks lightly before walking off.
